The Venue

Priory Hall, 134a Abbey Road, Kilburn, NW6 4SN

Entrance: as you face the church from Abbey Road, follow the path along the right side of the church to the priory hall (photo below right) - the doorway to Husky Mary's is on your right just before you reach the iron railing.

  Directions from Juntos

  It's 5 minutes (1.4 miles) by car

  1. Turn right at the traffic lights by The Amadeus onto Sutherland Avenue and continue straight on for a couple of minutes (through traffic lights as it becomes Hall Road and goes up a rise and through more traffic lights).
  2. Turn left onto Grove End Road/B507 which takes you to St Mary's - you'll see the very tall spire on your right on a left bend in the road.

  • No worries as parking is free on the weekend after 1:30
  • You can park in resident's bays and on single yellow lines but do check the signs

   Public Transport

  • The nearest stations are Kilburn High Road station (Overground, 4 minutes walk) and West Hampstead station (Jubilee & Overground, 11 minutes walk downhill there which means uphill back).
  • The 139 bus goes up Abbey Road, past the Beatle's pedestrian crossing, and many many buses plough Maida Vale (the road) up to Kilburn High Road station.

Flowers by Jenny C

We aim for a flowing dance floor as well as a balance of people dancing the Tanguera and Tanguero roles. As such, numbers are limited and booking in advance is required.

There will be seats at tables for everybody.

You are free to sit anywhere you choose.

We invite you, for your enjoyment, to:

  • seat yourself on the left of the hall if you are planning to use the mirada (marked in red).
  • seat yourself on the right of the hall if you are planning to use the cabeceo (marked in blue).

You are of course free to move about as much as you jolly well want, and there is a corridor behind the tables so you can do exactly that. The one exception is that people forming a maul at one end of the hall during the cortina will be invited to spread around a bit to help the mirada/cabeceo.

There are also plenty of spaces to socialise away from the dance floor.

Yes - the usual, and everyone who is invited will know and use them.

The music presented is that which a milonguera or milonguero would be happy to dance to.
Paul and Mabel play “Golden Age” music with a little bit de la guardia vieja.

The music is organized in Tandas with Cortinas in the TTVTTM format.

We reckon the character and personality of the DJ’s have a significant effect on the character and personality of the milonga, and we are very pleased to have Paul and Mabel for the day.
